Let's Play

I'm going to have a stab at something resembling Let's Play. The problem I've found (mainly through watching so many Retsupurae videos) is that people use the term "Let's Play" quite loosely, to the point where it's become quite diluted. It's my understand that originally a Let's Play video was a thread with a video of someone playing a game, commenting while playing it, and people can talk about the game in the thread and make comments and suggestions that might also alter how the player continues the game. It's a great concept, because you're sharing the gaming experience with people. It's all the more fun if you're playing games that haven't already been done to death before.

But as mentioned before the problem with Let's Plays now are that people are using the term to mean anything from trying to show off how good (they think) they are at a game to posting something of a visual walkthrough while they talk inane irrelevant shit over the top of it.

I don't quite think I've got what it takes to make decent Let's Plays. For a start I've got a pretty dull voice when it comes to narration, and I'm not particularly savvy when it comes to knowing how to record gameplay without having an epic filesize or without it being so jolty it's just not watchable. So I considered doing screenshot Let's Plays, but then that doesn't lend itself particularly well to many games. And then I realise that Let's Plays aren't really Let's Plays unless there are people actually interacting. So I'm going to do something of a hybrid video/screenshot playthrough of some old and more unknown games, as well as doing full video walkthroughs. Whether you can call any of this a "Let's Play" video is up to you, but once mid-May is over I'll be focusing on doing a fair few of these. Stay tuned!

Introduction

I decided to make this blog alongside my regular blog, as gaming takes up a large chunk of my life, I figured I'd make a separate blgo for gaming. I've had many gaming projects stored up over the years, including reviews, walkthroughs, articles and the like. One project I tried quite a while ago is a "play through", sort of like a diary of playing a game, along with screenshots. I don't know how popular this will be, but I just enjoy doing silly little things like this.

I hope you will enjoy reading this as much as I'll enjoy writing it!
